Everything you'd ever want in a leather messenger bag

I've been looking for a quality leather messenger bag for the past 6 months, and this bag fits the bill.

I'm a visual person and so it was a big leap for me to buy this bag since there was only one picture of the bag. What tipped the scale for me was reading the reviews. Reading the reviews of people who have purchased a product is absolutely invaluable in making the right decision

On to the product review:
The bag is made of quality leather, and uses double stitching. The bag strap is long enough to accommodate a big person, and at about 1.5 inches wide it doesn't get twisted up. The bag does not have a shoulder pad, which I initially thought would be a problem, because messenger bags that I've owned in the past that didn't have a pad had a tendency to dig into my shoulder. That is not the case with this bag.

The front flap is made of a single piece of relatively thick leather and is held down by a brass snap in the front. Hidden underneath of the front flap are two pockets that are about 3 inches wide, 4.5 inches long, and about .75 inches in depth; each having a single brass snap. Above the pockets is a zipper pocket that is about 12 inches wide and 9 inches long, and can easily hold a 75 page paper notebook.

The inside of the bag itself has 3 divided sections. The first section has pen, calculator and business card holders plus there is room for a 1 inch 3 ring binder. The middle section is zippered with a padded back area and was clearly meant to hold a laptop computer of 15.4 inches in size, although it is big enough to hold a 1.5 inch 3 ring binder. The last divided section was meant to hold notebooks, 3 ring binders, and books/textbooks. A big plus about this back section is that it will easily hold a 17.3 inch laptop computer plus a few additional items. The backing for the last interior section is padded as well.

A note about the 2 back padded areas. The padding is not all that thick, but that shouldn't be a problem since the bag is made of leather and that in and of itself provides additional protection for a laptop computer.
The back side of the messenger bag has a pocket for slipping in a newspaper, paper notebook, manila envelope, or paper notebook. There is no snap or zipper for this pocket.

There is no bag handle for the bag, however since this is a messenger bag that should be expect. If you need a bag with a handle, you should look at a briefcase or some other similar type bag.

Overall the bag looks good and the one image of it here on Amazon does not reflect how nice it looks. The double stitching is apparent and it looks and feels like a leather bag. The color of the leather is dark brown and it visually has a worn old school look to it. It has a stylish professional look to it that can be used for office / business or school.

Dislikes: I would have chosen a 5 star rating, but the laptop compartment doesn't -quite- fit my 15" Macbook Pro even though the product description says that it will accommodate a 16" laptop. If the bag's other compartments are empty, then I can barely squeeze it in there, but the compartment won't zip up. The product description states that a 16" laptop would fit. This clearly is not the case.

Likes: Great material, great looking bag, lots of storage space. It has a pretty wide strap, so it sits comfortably on my shoulder. I generally have my laptop (maybe), a couple of hard cover books, and a 1.5" 3-ring binder in there, along with my cell phone, pens, and various small office-type supplies. It's pretty roomy and everything is easy-access.

I am 6ft tall and well-built and lugging this bag takes its toll at the end of the day. It looks good, not professional but well enough for business casual. Though the weight is my main gripe, the distribution of the pockets is impractical, the business card holder doesn't fit a standard business card and the strap keeps sliding down and becoming too long.

I have not enjoyed using this bag and don't recommend its purchase.

The top flap feels thin and a little cheap, not sure how well it is going to hold up. Considering the price, most likely got what I paid for... Also not as "distressed" as I was hoping for, although in time most likely I will get the look I was invisioning.

I honestly do not know why there are such mixed reviews about this bag. It is everything the add said it would be. It looks just like it does in the picture, it is made of the finest quality leather I have ever had the pleasure to own, and it is more durable than any of my previous bags.

I have a 17.3 inch Toshiba Qosmio X775 Q7272 laptop. If you guys don't know what that is- copy and paste those statistics into the search bar. My laptop is relatively large. It is one of the biggest on the market. It fits into this messenger bag with ease and has room to spare. Granted, it will not fit into the middle pocket, but the large back compartment that has obviously been made for a larger laptop secures it and is well padded. It fits my computer, if you have expensive tastes like me, it will fit yours.

The bag is beautiful. It is amazing eye candy for people who enjoy that aesthetic appeal. You see this bag and your only thought is- Must touch it- and it feels as good as it looks.

I honestly do not know why people are up in arms about their stuff not fitting into this bag. maybe they didn't get the right one. Maybe their stuff is bigger than they think it is. Maybe they aren't understanding that the bag has multiple compartments for their computer and get angry when it doesn't fit in one. The reasons pile up. All I know is that this bag fits my large laptop, is comfortable, is sturdy, is beautiful, and is overall amazing. Buy it if you want something that is going to last a while and is going to look good while it keeps your stuff safe and secure.

I have carried messenger bags for about 20 years. I have had several; this one being my second leather messenger. I must say, this bag is stunning! It is surprising how much it holds. It has some weight to it, without being heavy. The strap is thick and comfortable. There is good stitching and I love how it looks.

I will however agree with other reviewers: the flap is slightly thin and the magnetic closure can be difficult to line up and hold, the front pockets are a little small, and the leather is rough. It does say "distressed leather messenger," though.

All in all, I look forward to carrying this bag with me for years to come.
